A TikToker is facing major backlash after a video of her attempting to dye her pet dog bright red went viral on the social media platform.

In the clip posted by @isabeastly, the canine can be seen dyed red.

"I saw some girl dye her dog on TikTok and I been wanting to dye my dog for a while," a text overlay on the video reads. The video then shows the bathroom walls and the tub smeared with the fresh color and says, "Omg my landlord is going to take my deposit. HELP ME!"

The video has since gone viral, with some people expressing concerns for the dog’s health.

"Is that even safe for the dog? I’m so confused and scared for it, lol I hope it was!" one person commented.

"Omg that is so not ok Poor baby," another user wrote.

Another user commented, "Some people just lack common sense."

However, a couple of users came in support of the dog owner, saying that she had used a dog-safe dye.

"They have non-toxic dyes that are made specifically for dogs! It's safe and will wash out, puppy is fine," one user commented.

Meanwhile, a "reveal" video showed the canine with patches of orange and red coloration.

The incident comes months after a dog owner was branded "cruel and selfish" by social media users for dying her pet using pink hair color. Lydia Geall dyed her poodle’s feet and tail bright pink and posted a photo of the canine on Facebook. She faced severe backlash with some netizens saying it was dangerous to use hair dye on dogs. Geall, however, clarified that the dye used on her pet was "semi-permanent, vegan and dog-friendly."

According to Rovers.com, coloring a dog’s fur is fine as long as people use dog-safe products. Dog owners should avoid using human hair dye on dogs and they can be toxic if ingested. Owners should also avoid the pet’s eyes and other sensitive body parts.
