  • Tilda Swinton believes that now is the best time to release a movie like “Snowpiercer”
  • The movie faced a lot of problems upon its initial release in 2014
  • The U.K. will now get the movie in Blu-Ray form

Tilda Swinton, who was a part of Bong Joon-Ho’s movie “Snowpiercer,” believes that now is the best time to release the movie so that more people could watch it and admire the genius of the acclaimed South Korean filmmaker.

The original movie that was released in 2014 went through a lot of problems upon its release. Harvey Weinstein wanted to release the movie with a lot of cuts and Joon-Ho was not ready for that. The “Parasite” director was adamant that he will release the movie with no cuts and that’s when Weinstein decided to retaliate by giving it a limited release in the U.S. and did not even let the movie hit the theaters in the U.K.

In an interview with The Independent, the 59-year-old actress revealed that the wait has been really “frustrating” for her, but she is really happy that people will now get to see “Snowpiercer” in large numbers.

Joon-Ho became the first South Korean director to win Best Director at this year’s Academy Awards while his movie “Parasite” won Best Picture. Swinton believes that the victory at the Oscars would encourage people to watch Joon-Ho’s movies and “Snowpiercer” could actually benefit from that.

The feature film will now be available in the U.K. in Blu-Ray form.

“However frustrating the delay has been for us. This release is simply the result we always looked forward to: the right time for our film. No doubt, ‘Parasite’ will have gathered countless new admirers to Bong’s work, so ‘Snowpiercer’ can be the beneficiary of this new following,” Swinton said.

“Snowpiercer,” Joon-Ho’s debut movie in English-language, is a film about people who have survived the Earth’s second Ice Age. They live out their days on a luxurious train that plows through snow and ice. The train’s poorest residents plan to improve their style of living by taking over the engine room.

Apart from Swinton, the cast includes the likes of Chris Evans, Song Kang-Ho, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, and Ed Harris.

The movie received universal acclaim and currently holds a score of 94% on review site Rotten Tomatoes. It was also included on the list of the top 10 independent films of 2014 by the National Board Of Review (NBR).
