Tim Allen and his conservative political views have led to some swift backlash for the “Last Man Standing” actor on social media once again after he made some surprising comments regarding his support of former President Donald Trump.

Allen made the comments on an appearance on the “WTF With Marc Maron Podcast,” where the host asked him about his conservative views despite his partnerships with Disney (which has included his roles in the “The Santa Clause” and “Toy Story” movies), and Allen pointed out that he is a fiscal conservative—but his support for Trump took some by surprise.

“I literally don’t preach anything. What I’ve done is just not joined into, as I call it, the ‘we culture,’” he said. “I’m not telling anybody else how to live. I don’t like that, ‘we should do this’ or, ‘we should do that.’”

“Once I realized that the last President pissed people off, I kind of liked that,” he added. “So it was fun to just not say anything. Didn’t join in the lynching crowd.”

The comment about liking Trump because of the reaction he caused among people led to a swift backlash against the actor and comedian, with many expressing either surprise that he was a Trump supporter or that it was insensitive for him to use that standard when determining if Trump was a good president.

Allen went on to admit he had also been friendly with the Clintons when Bill Clinton was in office, but his support for Trump came from not believing Hillary Clinton deserved to hold the same office.

Allen’s conservative views are actually nothing new. Though he wasn’t as vocal a Trump supporter as other celebrities and has even called himself a Fiscal Conservative but “Emotional Liberal”-- and also condemned the Jan. 6 riots at the Capitol, his Conservative views were blamed for his show’s initial cancellation on ABC, with many claiming that his comments about Hollywood not being open to less liberal viewpoints led to the Disney owned network pulling the plug on the show.

The series was actually canceled because of the rising cost to keep it on ABC since it was produced by 20th Century Fox. It was later picked up by Fox and has been airing there ever since. However, the show’s current ninth season was also announced to be it's last back in October.
