Tim Tebow Net Worth: Here's How Little He Earned In The NFL
KEY POINTS
- Tim Tebow has an estimated net worth of $5 million from his decade-long NFL career
- The quarterback shuffled between teams through the years and made less than $10 million in contract earnings
- Tebow was recently let go by the Jacksonville Jaguars despite signing a one-year contract earlier this year
Tim Tebow is a quarterback who signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars in May worth $920,000 for one year. Despite being in the league since 2010, the NFL athlete has made very little off his contracts.
From his decade-long career, Tebow has only earned less than $10 million in total salary in the NFL. He currently has an estimated net worth of $5 million, which is a far cry from many of the other prominent quarterbacks in the league, as per Celebrity Net Worth.
Tebow’s first team was the Denver Broncos where he was on a five-year, $11.25 million contract. However, the quarterback did not finish his deal as he was traded to the New York Jets in 2012, as per Bleacher Report. The year after, he was let go by the team and he was signed to the New England Patriots on a two-year, $1.385 million contract.
The quarterback’s string of bad luck continued as he was once again let go by his team in August 2013. He spent the next two years outside of the NFL scene before he was chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles, which gave him a one-year, $660,000 contract in April 2015. This only lasted him less than five months when he was released in September of that same year, according to Spotrac.
His recent deal with the Jaguars put an end to his six-year-long run off the professional scene and would have given him a competitive salary in the years to come. However, the NFL athlete’s attempt to return as a tight end for the Jaguars was cut short after the team recently announced they would be parting ways with Tebow, ESPN reported.
“Thankful for the highs and even the lows, the opportunities, and the setbacks. I’ve never wanted to make decisions out of fear of failure and I’m grateful for the chance to have pursued a dream,” the 34-year-old athlete wrote on Twitter. He added, “God works all things together for good. Romans 8:28,” in a separate tweet.
Urban Meyer, the head coach of the Jaguars, cited Tebow’s lack of experience in blocking as the reason for letting him go. He said that while players loved his company, his NFL career was an uphill battle.
