Timothy Bradley Would Keep Manny Pacquiao Away From Errol Spence, Terence Crawford
Timothy Bradley said he wants to keep Manny Pacquiao away from Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford.
Aside from the reportedly under negotiations rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Pacquiao is also being viewed as a perfect match for Spence and Crawford. However, Bradley, a fighter who has shared the ring with the Filipino legend three times, doesn’t want “Pacman” to face either of the said possible opponents.
In a recent talk with FightHype.com, Bradley was asked which of the welterweights would match up well and has the best chance of beating Pacquiao. As expected, the retired American boxer stated that Spence, Crawford and even Shawn Porter (who recently lost to Spence) are all good for Pacquiao. But Bradley believes that a fight with either of the top welterweights is not ideal for his former rival at this point.
“Any of those top welterweights is a good match up for Pacquiao,” said Bradley. “Porter is a great match up for him. Spence is a great match up for him. Personally, If I had Manny Pacquiao, I would keep him away from those guys. I would keep him away from a guy like Errol Spence. I would keep him away from a guy like Shawn Porter as well. I’d keep him away from Terence Crawford, all those top guys,” Bradley said.
Apparently, Bradley didn’t like how Pacquiao got hit in the Keith Thurman fight. This is one of the main reasons why he thinks Pacquiao shouldn’t be fighting these younger and stronger guys anymore.
Bradley also believes Pacquiao has to be calculated on how he fights and who he fights next. And he insited that the eight-division title holder should avoid Spence and Crawford because those are dangerous fights given his age.
Before Pacquiao fought Thurman, Bradley already predicted that Pacquiao would be in trouble against the younger fighter. According to Bradley, the fight is very important for Thurman as not too many fighters are given the chance to share the ring with a legend like Pacquiao.
However, Bradley put his bet on Thurman to win the fight and emphasized that the WBA welterweight champ isn’t only younger but smart and knows how to beat Pacquiao as well.
Meanwhile, Spence is currently recovering after being seriously injured in a car accident in Dallas that saw the Ferrari he was driving flip over five times. According to multiple reports, Spence was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown off the car. His injuries were listed as serious but not life-threatening.
