Tina Brown Says Kate Middleton Is 'Perfect' For Having A Boy: Is Daily Beast Editor Sexist?
Daily Beast editor is calling the Duchess of Cambridge “perfect” after she gave birth to a boy on Monday. Middleton, 31, was taken to the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in west London's Paddington neighborhood at 6 a.m. with Prince William by her side Monday morning. The birth of her son was announced 11 hours later.
While on MSNBC show “Morning Joe,” Brown, 59, said about Middleton, “Once again, she does the perfect thing. Although there’s the constitutional change that we can now have a girl as the firstborn to be the monarch, nonetheless she does the traditional thing and she gives us a prince, she gives a king. Let’s face it, the queen will be thrilled. She and the duke of Edinburgh, much as they would have said they’d be fine with a girl as the firstborn, they really wanted a boy and they got one!” Brown even tweeted, “#Kate can do no wrong! Now the royals can stop pretending they were fine with a girl 1st!”
Middleton and Prince Harry made their first public appearance since the birth on Tuesday afternoon in front of thousands of spectators and media. The Duchess wore a blue polka dot Jenny Packham dress, and Prince Harry complimented her look in a blue-and-white striped dress shirt. Their baby, who is yet unnamed, was wrapped in a white blanket. “We're still working on a name,” William told the assembled Press, adding that it has been “very emotional.”
A spokesperson for the royal family stated that the newborn's official title will be "His Royal Highness Prince or Princess of Cambridge." The title was announced earlier this month and chosen by Queen Elizabeth. Media from around the world is surrounding St. Mary's to get a glimpse of the royal family. Both Prince William and his brother Harry were born at St. Mary's, with William the first heir to be born in a hospital; previous heirs were born at the home of a royal family member. After the new royal baby is born, Prince Harry will be demoted to fourth in line to the British throne. This will be the couple's first child together.
