Titans Playoffs 2022: Who Will Tennessee Play? Raiders, Steelers, Patriots, Bengals Could Be Opponents
The Tennessee Titans have the AFC’s lone bye in the 2022 NFL playoffs, giving them an automatic berth in the divisional round. Tennessee’s first postseason opponent will be determined by the results of Wild-Card Weekend.
In the second round of the playoffs, the Titans will host the lowest-seeded team that wins a wild-card game. The No. 4 seed Cincinnati Bengals, No. 5 seed Las Vegas Raiders, No. 6 seed New England Patriots and No, 7 seed Pittsburgh Steelers are all candidates to visit Tennessee in the Titans’ first postseason game,
Tennessee can’t host the No. 2 seed Kansas City Chiefs or No. 3 seed Buffalo Bills until the AFC Championship Game. Kansas City hosts Pittsburgh Sunday night. Buffalo hosts New England Saturday night.
The Steelers would secure a matchup with Tennessee by defeating the Chiefs. Kansas City is the biggest favorite on the wild-card schedule, laying 12.5 points against Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh managed to beat Tennessee 19-13 in Week 15. The Steelers were at home, and the Titans played without both A.J. Brown and Derrick Henry. Julio Jones left the game with a hamstring injury.
If the Steelers lose and the Patriots beat the Bills, New England faces Tennessee for a second time this season. The Patriots blew out the Titans 36-13 in Week 12. Tennessee was missing its top playmakers in that game, as well.
If both Pittsburgh and New England lose, it’ll be the winner of Saturday’s contest between Cincinnati and Las Vegas that visits Tennessee in the divisional playoffs. The Titans didn’t face the Bengals or Raiders in the regular season.
Tennessee is in the playoffs for a third straight year. The Titans made the 2020 AFC Championship Game and were upset in last year’s wild-card round by the Baltimore Ravens.
