'Titans' Season 3 May Introduce Comic Book Character Phantasm

“Titans” Season 3 will be introducing a comic book character known as Phantasm. Casting for the new role has begun and details of the character description have surfaced online.

DC comic book fans will be familiar with Danny Chase, a member of the New Teen Titans who took the name Phantasm. According to Screen Rant, a casting announcement for the show suggest that the producers are looking for someone to play this role.

According to the official character description, the role is for South East Asian actor to play 16-17 year old superhero named Daniel. The casting call reveals the superhero to be someone who “grew up on the wrong side of the tracks but never lost his belief in heroism.” Even though he has had a “rough upbringing,” the character will be “motivated by the opportunity to do good in the world instead of the dwelling in the pain and tragedy.”

The character description should remind fans of Danny Chase. The only superpower the casting call mentioned is his “near-genius I.Q.” In the comics, the character also has telekinesis powers and has training in espionage.

Production of “Titans” Season 3 is yet to begin. It remains to be seen what role Danny will play on the show when it returns.

According to CBR, Danny has a “knack for detective work” in the comics. Apart from his I.Q., the character also has photographic memory. In the comics, the superhero got his telekinetic powers after being exposed to radiation, but it remains to be seen if the TV series will explore the origin story of the new character.

After the casting, the producers will have to decide on what costume Danny will get on the show. For a character like Raven (Teagan Croft), for instance, the costume designer Laura Jean Shannon came up with a “whole closet” of clothes, CBR reported.

“Titans” Season 3 is expected to premiere some time later this year.
