T.J. Miller Finally Explains Why He Decided To Leave ‘Silicon Valley’ After 4 Seasons
T.J. Miller has finally revealed the real reason behind his decision to leave “Silicon Valley” after four seasons.
During his pre-taped interview on “Larry King Now,” Miller said that he just felt it was the right time to say goodbye to his character, Erlich Bachman. “It was the right time. HBO and I kind of decided that this was a time that the character could leave. We’d written it in a place where there was an organic departure,” he said.

King then hinted on the fact that Miller grew too big of a name for the HBO series, but the actor was quick to deny this assumption. “No, I’m so happy that I was on the show. Those guys I do think are the best in the game. I mean… there is no one funnier working on television,” he said in reference to series co-creator Mike Judge.
Last month, the network released a statement announcing Miller’s departure from the hit TV series. “The producers of ‘Silicon Valley’ and T.J. Miller have mutually agreed that T.J. will not return for Season 5. In Erlich Bachman, T.J. has brought to life an unforgettable character, and while his presence on the show will be missed, we appreciate his contribution and look forward to future collaborations,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that all of the main cast members of “Silicon Valley” will return for Season 5. This includes Josh Brenner, Matt Ross, Amanda Crew, Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Woods, Thomas Middleditch, Jimmy O. Yang and Martin Starr.
But even though Miller will no longer be part of “Silicon Valley,” his fans will still be able to see him in a slew of different projects. HBO will release a stand-up comedy special starring the actor this month titled “T.J. Miller: Meticulously Ridiculous.” He is also set to star in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming movie, “Ready Player One.”
Miller is currently making press rounds for “The Emoji Movie,” which is slated to hit theaters in the United States sometime in July.
“Silicon Valley” Season 5 is slated to premiere on HBO sometime next year.
