The lives of three childhood friends who live on a man-made island, named the 24th Ward that sits in Tokyo Bay, are about to change when they get a call from a dead friend.

The "Tokyo 24th Ward" anime revolves around three friends – Shuta, Koki and Ran who were born and raised in the Far Eastern Special Administrative Region, also called the 24th Ward.

A phone call pressures them to choose their future. Can Shuta, Koki and Ran come and work together to save 24th Ward and its inhabitants?

"The Far Eastern Special Administrative Region, also known as the 24th Ward, is a man-made island that sits in Tokyo Bay. Shuta, Ran, and Koki were born and raised on the island. Their family backgrounds, preferences, and personalities are completely different, but they are childhood friends who have always stuck together," read the official series synopsis of "Tokyo 24th Ward" anime.

"However, one incident changed their relationship forever. A year afterward, the three friends are reunited by chance at a memorial service held for the incident. All three of their phones suddenly ring simultaneously. Their friend, who is supposed to be dead, is calling and demands that they make a decision about the future. The three friends do what they believe is best to protect the 24th Ward and its inhabitants," the synopsis continued.

"Tokyo 24th Ward" is produced at CloverWorks and directed by Naokatsu Tsuda. The original character design is by FiFS. The music of the series is composed by Hideyuki Fukasawa.

The cast of the anime includes Junya Enoki as Shuta Aoi, Yuma Uchida as Ran Akagi, Kaito Ishikawa as Koki Suido, Yui Makino as Mari Sakuragi, Hitomi Nabatame as Sakiko Tsuzuragawa, Sayaka Oohara as Kanae Suido, Atsushi Imaruoka as Yamamori, Yoji Ueda as Hiroki Shirakaba, Yuichi Nakamura as Wataru Chikushi, Hiroya Egashira as Kaoru Shindo, Manaka Iwami as Asumo Saido, Nanami Tomaru as Kinako, Taitem Kusunoki as Gori Suido, Soma Saito as Kunai, Eri Kitamura as Lucky, Rina Hidaka as Kozue Shirakaba and Yumiri Hanamori as Hana Shishido.

"Tokyo 24th Ward" Episode 1 is scheduled to premiere Wednesday. Fans can watch the anime online on Crunchyroll and Funimation. The episode will live stream in Japanese with English subtitles.
