KEY POINTS

  • Tom Brady is not losing sleep on his impending broadcast career with Fox Sports
  • Brady prefers to focus on football and possibly winning an eighth Super Bowl title
  • He is aware that his time is running out

Tom Brady has been around to know what it takes to stay competitive.

After initially announcing he was retiring, the seven-time Super Bowl champion changed his mind and decided to return to NFL action--at least for the 2022-23 season.

This was even though the five-time Super Bowl MVP had a massive $375 million deal with Fox Sports waiting for him.

Being a broadcaster is a route that other football greats ended up doing, and Brady is undoubtedly one that is expected to follow that path.

Despite the big money and the fact that he has accomplished so much in professional football, Brady is not yet ready to hang it up.

However, he is aware that time is running out and that he would have to someday make that tough decision of calling it quits and moving on to another genre.

Brady spoke with Ramin Setoodeh of Variety to touch on several topics.

The lengthy interview included a question asking the future NFL Hall of Famer when he plans to start his broadcasting career.

“I want to focus on football,” Brady said. “I really want to commit to this year to be as best as I possibly can."

Once the 2022-23 NFL season wraps up, expect a lot of scribes to closely monitor what the 2009 NFL Comeback of the Player Year plans to do.

Rather than worry about that, Brady appears to be targeting another milestone in his career–an eighth Super Bowl title.

"I really don’t. I would say it’s year to year: Could this be my last year? Absolutely. Could I change my mind? Absolutely. I’ve realized I don’t have five years left. I want to do it my way," he stated."

"I want to give it everything I got and see where I’m at. My body feels really good. I’ve had a lot of traumatic injuries over the years, but if things go really smoothly and we win, that’d be great."

If that does happen this season, it could be the perfect time for Brady to close his decorated NFL career and further make his case as the league's "G.O.A.T."

"I think that would obviously be the greatest way to end. I just have a competitive fire that got the best of me," he ended.
