Tom Brady has reportedly signed a two-year contract extension with the New England Patriots, agreeing to a deal that will keep him under the team’s control through 2019. The deal indicates that Brady will remain in the NFL well beyond his 40th birthday, helping him earn more money than almost any player in league history.

Following the 2015 season, Brady has earned just under $163 million in the NFL, according to Spotrac. The details of his new contract have yet to be released, but he should be north of $200 million if he stays with the Patriots through the full length of the deal.

Even though it’s a very rough estimate, Celebrity Net Worth lists Brady’s net worth at $120 million. The website gives his wife, model Gisele Bundchen, an estimated net worth of $360 million.

Prior to signing the extension, which was reported by ESPN.com, Brady was set to make $9 million in 2016 and $10 million in 2017. His highest yearly salary came in 2010 when he was paid $23.5 million, and the quarterback has made at least $12 million in each of the last four seasons.

If Brady’s previous extension is any indication, his new extension won’t make him among the highest paid quarterbacks in the coming years. The four-time Super Bowl champ signed a three-year extension in 2013, giving him a base salary that totaled $27 million from 2015-2017. Brady was given a $30 million signing bonus, which helped give the Patriots some salary cap relief.

NFL contracts aren’t guaranteed beyond the signing bonus, and multiple star players are released every year because of their expensive annual salaries. But even if Brady’s performance declines in the coming seasons, his relatively inexpensive contract would make it less likely for New England to part ways with the veteran.

Because he was a sixth-round draft pick in 2000, Brady didn’t make big money coming out of college like many of the best quarterbacks of the last 15 years. When he begins his 17th NFL season in September, Brady will be 39 years old.

As one of the oldest starting quarterbacks in the NFL last year, Brady was still among the best players at his position. He finished second in MVP voting behind Cam Newton.

Brady has boosted his income through endorsements, but most of his pay comes from his salary with the Patriots. According to Forbes, Brady made $7 million in endorsements in 2015. Peyton Manning led the league with $12 million in endorsements last year.

The Manning brothers are the only players that have made more money in the NFL than Brady. Peyton Manning’s career will likely end with just under $249 million in total earnings, while Eli Manning has made $187.77 million with $64.5 million left on his current deal.
