Tom Brady Rumors: Tennessee Titans Are Real Contenders To Sign Patriots Quarterback In 2020
The New England Patriots are the odds-on favorites to sign Tom Brady at U.S. sportsbooks. One NFL insider believes other teams actually have a better chance to acquire the quarterback in free agency.
ESPN’s Jeff Darlington said on “The Adam Schefter Podcast” that he believes the Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders should have the best odds in the Tom Brady Sweepstakes. Darlington noted that he would put the Patriots pretty close behind those two teams, calling it “educated speculation.”
“We need to wrap our heads around the idea of Tom Brady leaving because he is considering exactly that. That is not speculation. That is fact,” Darlington said. “Whether they can get on the same page in the next 30 days—the Patriots and Tom Brady—and figure this thing out, and it is a tall task from a number of different levels, unless they can figure it out in the next 30 days Tom Brady is gone.”
Las Vegas has been considered the biggest threat to New England for the six-time Super Bowl champion. The Raiders have the second-best odds behind the Patriots to sign Brady.
Tennessee is a long shot to land Brady, according to oddsmakers. DraftKings Sportsbook gives the Titans +2000 odds to sign Brady. They have the same odds as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts.
The Miami Dolphins (+1200) and Los Angeles Chargers (+1200) are ahead of Tennessee, as are the Raiders (+600) and Patriots (-335).
The Titans have moved up to third in the race for Brady at FanDuel Sportsbook with +1200 odds.
Ryan Tannehill put up much better numbers than Brady in the 2019 season as Tennessee’s quarterback. Tannehill led the NFL with a 117.5 passer rating and 9.6 yards per attempt in 11 games. Brady had an 88.0 passer rating and 6.6 yards per attempt last season.
Tannehill is also headed for free agency. Tennessee could use the franchise tag on the veteran.
The Titans beat the Patriots at Gillette Stadium in the wild-card round of the playoffs. Tennessee was beaten in the AFC Championship Game by the Kansas City Chiefs.
