Tom Brady Stats: These Numbers Make The QB The Greatest NFL Player Of All-Time
Tom Brady officially announced his retirement on Tuesday, ending arguably the greatest quarterback career in NFL history.
After 22 seasons, Brady exits the game with statistics that are unparalleled. The 44-year-old has a long list of accolades and records that may not ever be matched. No quarterback has thrown for more touchdowns and more yards but that's just a tiny sample of what the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend accomplished.
Here’s a look at the most impressive stats that make Brady stand out above the rest.
10 Super Bowl appearances, 7 Super Bowl championships, 5 Super Bowl MVPs
Brady has won more Super Bowls than any NFL franchise. Only the Patriots have made more trips to the Super Bowl than their former quarterback. Not only does Brady hold the record with two more Super Bowl MVP awards than Joe Montana, but he’s the only player to win it for two different teams. Brady is also the oldest player to be named Super Bowl MVP, setting the record at 39 years old and then again as a 43-year-old.
35 playoff wins
The Patriots are first in history with 37 postseason victories, followed by the Green Bay Packers’ 36 wins. The Dallas Cowboys are third with 35 playoff wins, tied with Brady, who won 74.4% of his games against postseason opponents. Montana is a distant second with 16 playoff wins as a starting quarterback. Brady reached the conference title game in 14 of his 22 seasons.
73 regular-season losses
Brady’s 243-73 record in the regular season is just absurd. The New York Giants, New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns all lost more games in the last seven seasons than Brady did in his entire 22-year career. The Bucs lost 74 games in the seven seasons prior to Brady leading Tampa Bay to a championship. Brady won at least 10 games in 19 seasons.
84,520 passing yards, 624 passing touchdowns
Even when Brady was winning Super Bowls early in his career, the likes of Peyton Manning and Brett Favre were putting up much more impressive individual stats. That eventually changed to the point that Brady comfortably holds the record for passing yards, passing touchdowns and completions. Despite his longevity, Brady has fewer interceptions than Favre, Manning, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger and Philip Rivers.
