Tom Brady vs. Aaron Rodgers: Which Quarterback Will Make More Money In 2021?
Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers have been linked together throughout the year, first meeting in the NFC Championship Game and then going head-to-head in The Match IV golf tournament. The future Hall of Famers are still among the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and they’ll be paid like it in the 2021 NFL season.
Shortly after leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl title in February, Brady agreed to a contract extension. Rodgers is still signed to the extension he inked with the Green Bay Packers three years ago, though the signal caller has made it clear that he longer wants to play for the franchise.
Rodgers was the league’s best quarterback in the regular season, but it was Brady who had more success when it counted most. The reigning Super Bowl MVP is set to make more money than the 2020 NFL MVP for the upcoming season.
Tampa Bay will pay Brady $27,545,588 for the 2021 season, according to Spotrac. Brady is the league’s second-highest paid quarterback this year, behind only Dak Prescott, who will receive a whopping $75 million in total cash from the Dallas Cowboys because of the record-setting signing bonus in his new contract.
Rodgers is owed $21.5 million this year, putting him ninth among all quarterbacks.
Brady left the New England Patriots in 2020 free agency for a two-year, $50 million deal with Tampa Bay. Brady agreed to a four-year extension that voids to a one-year extension in March, which included a $20 million roster bonus.
With more than $263 million in career earnings, Brady has made the most money of any NFL player in history. Set to be 44 years old for the entire 2021 season, Brady is scheduled to make just under $24 million in 2022.
Rodgers is under contract for three more seasons. The extension that he signed in the summer of 2018 reportedly paid him more than $80 million through March 2019.
Rodgers received a $6.8 million roster bonus in March of this year, roughly a month before it was reported that the quarterback wanted out of Green Bay. The Packers have been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Rodgers to a new extension.
Green Bay was able to fine Rodgers more than $93,000 for skipping all three days of minicamp. Rodgers forfeited $500,000 in May by not attending the team’s offseason workouts.
Rodgers will be subject to hefty fines if he skips training camp.
