Tom Cruise wished England's soccer team good luck the night before their UEFA Euro 2020 Final match against Italy Sunday.
Before the historic match, Cruise got in touch with England's team captain Harry Kane via FaceTime. Apparently, he's one of the team's many celebrity supporters.
"Obviously we have had ex-players and people get in touch," Kane told BBC Radio 5Live Sunday, reported NME. "We actually had Tom Cruise get in touch yesterday evening, you get everyone who loves football."
"We were fortunate enough to have a watch of one of his films, so I think he was over here in the U.K. and he just dialed in and FaceTimed us just to wish us the best as a group, so that was nice of him," Kane further said during the radio interview.
The 59-year-old actor is currently filming his upcoming movie, "Mission: Impossible 7," in London and has so far attended two major sporting events. Apart from gracing the women's finals at Wimbledon with his presence Saturday, he watched the Euro 2020 Final the following day.
According to England manager Gareth Southgate, the English team also had a special preview screening of the actor's upcoming movie, "Top Gun: Maverick."
"They had a preview of a film that's due out further down the line and they had Tom dial in to speak to them which was, I would imagine, quite surreal," Yahoo Entertainment quoted Southgate, as saying. "I was in a meeting watching videos of Italy but that's another story."
Netizens also tweeted the video of Cruise and David Beckham together in the stands at Wembley Stadium. In the clip, Beckham and Cruise can be seen fist-bumping each other.
Fans praised both the icons in the comments section. One of the fans wrote, "Two classy and gentlemen."
Meanwhile, another fan jokingly wrote, "Looks like one of their dates didn't show up!"
One of the fans acknowledged Cruise's presence at Wimbledon and Wembley by writing, "Mission impossible had a helicopter to come from Wimbledon to Wembley!!!"
Another fan wrote, "They complement each other so well... Beckham fits the bill of a 'tom cruise of football' and Tom fits the bill of a 'Beckham of Hollywood.'"
On the work front, Cruise will be next seen in the action-adventure movie "Top Gun: Maverick," which is slated for release on Nov. 19.
