Tom Cruise Makes Grand Entry In A Helicopter At 'Top Gun: Maverick' Premiere [Watch]
Tom Cruise made a grand entry in a helicopter and landed on the deck of the USS Midway aircraft carrier in San Diego during the world premiere of his upcoming movie "Top Gun: Maverick" on Wednesday.
In a video shared online, a helicopter can be seen approaching the deck and landing smoothly. The 59-year-old then actor stepped out of the helicopter. He later confirmed to ET that he wasn't behind the controls even though he was a certified pilot.
"No, not today. I do fly that helicopter, but not today," the actor told the outlet.

Interestingly, Cruise wasn't the only one who made a flying entry as Lady Gaga, who sang the theme song "Hold My Hand" for the movie, appeared in a flying dress. She donned a black-and-white outfit and was standing on a flying gadget.

"It was nerve-wracking to hear that song for the first time. We went over to the record label [offices], and you're almost afraid you're not going to like it, because how do you say 'No thank you' to Lady Gaga?" Director Joseph Kosinski admitted in an interview with Insider. "As soon as we heard the song, it was like, 'Wow, that is a classic melody. That is fantastic.'"
Cruise dropped the trailer of "Top Gun: Maverick" in March, which featured some amazing air combat scenes.

The flick revolves around Maverick's character, who teaches a batch of new pilots to go on a deadly mission that needs an ultimate sacrifice. Apart from Cruise, the movie also features Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly and Ed Harris.
Kosinski earlier revealed that Cruise created a stunt training program for his co-stars in the sequel.
"We spent a year working with the Navy to get approvals to put six of these IMAX-quality cameras inside the cockpit," the director said.
"[Cruise] He put us through... I'll just call it a 'Tom Cruise boot camp'. We were getting in killer shape," Teller said about the training session. "And also for the stunts and stuff that Tom does in movies, it's usually a very specific type of training."
"Top Gun: Maverick" will hit the theaters on May 27.
