Tom Cruise's Weirdest Moments: A Look Back At Some Of Tom Cruise's Most Maniacal Outbursts Caught On Camera [VIDEO]
With his divorce from Katie Holmes putting Tom Cruise and his Scientologist beliefs back in the spotlight, a review of the actor's greatest YouTube hits shows his growing reputation for eccentricity, at best.
For instance, there's his notorious appearance on Oprah after he and Katie Holmes began dating in 2008.
Winfrey was almost unable to get through the interview with Cruise; he could barely sit in his seat and was constantly shaking her, getting on his knees and bowing his head Tim Tebow style.
The interview got really weird when Cruise jumped on top of Winfrey's yellow leather couch, for seemingly no good reason.
It was wilder than it was appearing to me, Winfrey confessed to ABC News. I was just trying to maintain the truth for myself because I couldn't figure out what was going on. And what I was prepared for was the dance that happens when you're doing celebrities - when you know they're not going to tell you, but you're going to ask anyway, and then you try asking another way.
But Winfrey wasn't expecting Cruise to literally dance on her couch. I was not buying - not buying or not buying, Winfrey explained of Cruise's professed love for Holmes. That's why I kept saying to 'you're gone, you're really gone.'
Proving that the actor can't take a joke, Cruise was completely offended when a man who posed as a reporter squirted him with a water gun in the middle of an interview on the red carpet, a month after he trampled over Oprah Winfrey's couch.
Why would you do that? he asked after a few water droplets were spritzed onto his face. Do you like thinking less of people, is that it?
The prankster attempted to run away but Cruise grabbed his hand. Don't run away, he said. That's incredibly rude. I'm here giving you an interview and you do that. ... It's incredibly rude.
The actor's frustration culminated when he said to the joker, You're a jerk.
Though those instances were funny, his interview on the Today show with Matt Lauer was borderline disturbing. Cruise star tried to convince Lauer that depression could be cured with exercise and vitamins.
Cruise criticized Brooke Shields for taking medication to help her from suffering from postpartum depression.
He said in part of his diatribe to Lauer, The thing I was saying about Brooke is there's misinformation and she doesn't understand the history of psychiatry ... in the same way that you don't understand, Matt. You don't know psychiatry, I do.
Scientology is a declared enemy of mental health professions and all treatments except its own.
The remarkable video has gotten nearly 1.5 million views on YouTube, and why wouldn't it have so many hits? Apparently Tom Cruise knows better than psychiatric professionals.
But Brooke Shields, like millions of others, was not convinced by Tom Cruise's tirade.
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that Mr. Cruise has never suffered from postpartum depression, she wrote in piece for The New York Times. If any good can come of Mr. Cruise's ridiculous rant, let's hope that it gives much-needed attention to a serious disease.
Naturally it's all going to come back to Scientology, right? In an un-cut video Tom Cruise essentially goes on a 10-minute Scientology rant. Mission Impossible music is playing in the background as he attempts to explain that being a Scientologist is something that needs to be earned, among other things.
What do you think are some of Tom Cruise's strangest moments?
