Tom Guiry Arrested: 'Smalls' From 'The Sandlot' Charged For Headbutting Police Officer
You’re killing us, Smalls! Actor Tom Guiry, best known for playing the role of “Smalls” in the cult classic film “The Sandlot,” was arrested last weekend after allegedly headbutting a police officer.
The alleged incident took place when Guiry, 31, was attempting to board a flight at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, TMZ reports. Law enforcement sources claim that a United Airlines employee barred Guiry from boarding his flight, claiming that the former “Sandlot” star was too drunk to fly.
Authorities say that the United Airlines employee then informed an airport police officer of the situation, TMZ reports. Guiry was reportedly told that he could either be arrested for public intoxication or placed in a so-called “drunk tank” to sober up.
The inebriated Guiry reportedly became belligerent with the police officer, TMZ reports. Law enforcement sources claim that “Smalls” verbally abused the officer and proceeded to threaten him. Next, he allegedly assaulted the victim, attempting to kick him in the face before landing a headbutt.
Guiry was arrested after the alleged headbutting incident and charged with felony assault of a police officer, TMZ reports. The unnamed police officer reportedly received minor injuries in the attack.
After his arrest, the 31-year-old actor posted $5,000 bond and was released from prison, TMZ reports. The former “Sandlot” actor has yet to comment on the situation.
