Tom Hardy’s ‘Taboo’ Renewed Or Cancelled For Season 2? Fans React To FX Series’ Fate
Tom Hardy will return as James Keziah Delaney in FX series “Taboo.”
FX announced Thursday that the gritty show will back for a second season. The drama, which is executive produced by Hardy, Ridley Scott and Steven Knight, amassed a total viewership rating of 5.8 million every week in Season 1. The series is co-created by Hardy, his father Chips and Knight. It premiered on Jan. 10 and aired its Season 1 finale on Feb. 28. It consists of eight hour long episodes.
“Taboo” follows the story of a man named Delaney in 1814 who is presumed dead. After 14 long years, he travels from Africa to London to reclaim his deceased father’s shipping empire. The gritty tale shows Hardy’s character navigate a series of complex situations and territories in order to survive. The show is peppered with plots of murder, betrayal, love and a dark family mystery.
The 39-year-old English actor said in a statement, “We are grateful and excited to continue our relationship with the BBC and FX in contributing towards British drama. Fantastic news.” His father said, “I'm delighted we have the opportunity to build on what was achieved in the first series, and that we can continue to create breakthrough drama to intrigue and entertain.”
Scott said, “We’re thrilled people want to know what happens next and that the BBC and FX are up for more adventures with the devil Delaney and the league of the damned.”
Meanwhile, Knight issued a statement, “I’m thrilled that a work which pushes boundaries has been so well received and found such a large and enthusiastic audience in the U.S. and Britain.”
“Taboo” fans are, of course, happy with the renewal news since the finale ended on a cliff-hanger of sorts. Check out the reaction on Facebook and Twitter below:
Aside from Hardy, “Taboo” also stars Jonathan Pryce, Oona Chaplin, Stephen Graham, Michael Kelly, Jessie Buckley, David Hayman and Tom Hollander. You can watch the entire Season 1 on FXNOW.
