Tom Holland Says He Shares 'Communal Bond' With Tobey Maguire And Andrew Garfield [Watch]
Tom Holland has opened up about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who also played Spider-Man in previous Marvel movies, claiming they have an "affiliation" and a "communal bond" between them.
"I guess we're friends," Holland told AP Entertainment at a press tour Wednesday. "We've bumped into each other at parties and seen each other out and about."
The actor was joined by his co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon in the interview. In the one-minute clip, it can be seen that he looked at his companions before revealing that they recently met Maguire at a restaurant.
"We bumped into Tobey the other day at a restaurant and we are the only three people to have played this character on the big screen, so there is an affiliation between us," he explained. "Does that make sense? You know what I'm trying to say."
The actor further noted that there is a "communal bond" between them and whenever they see each other, they feel like long-lost brothers.
"There is a communal bond between the three of us, so when we see each other, it does feel like a long-lost brother," Holland said, adding: "I saw Andrew that other day at a party in LA and I gave him a big cuddle and it was very nice."
Holland also revealed that he would like to work with Maguire and Garfield on-screen someday, implying that they are not going to appear in the upcoming movie, "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
"I'd love to share the screen with them one day," he concluded. "Unfortunately, I don't ever think we'll be able to wear the suits together, but it would be nice to make a film with both of them."
"THE SPIDER-MEN: As the reigning Spider-Man, @TomHolland1996's spidey-sense connects him to previous web-slingers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield," AP Entertainment wrote in the clip's caption.
Comments from fans quickly poured in. Many of them said they don't believe Garfield and Maguire won't appear in the latest installment of the franchise.
"He ain't foolin nobody," a fan noted.
"Has he gotten that much better at lying or is the entire world going to be disappointed?" another supporter wrote. To this, another person replied, "Nah he's just a good actor lol but this act ain't fooling us!"
The actor revealed earlier this week that "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will start from the "same freeze-frame." Directed by Jon Watts, the highly anticipated movie will hit theaters exclusively on Dec. 17.
