“Fox Nation” host Tomi Lahren received a wave of backlash on Twitter after she shared a tweet defending Caitlyn Jenner, who was heckled with transphobic comments while attending the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) over the weekend.

On Monday, Lahren’s name became a trending topic on the social media platform after she called out attendees for attempting to taunt Jenner by calling out the birth name Bruce and for using other forms of hate speech to attack Jenner.

“Hearing how some 'conservatives' treated @Caitlyn_Jenner at CPAC makes my blood boil. There’s no room for your hate in the America First movement. We believe in freedom and we believe in limited government. The way she chooses to live her personal life harms you in no way!” Lahren tweeted.

Shortly after her name began trending on Twitter, Lahren attempted to clarify why she stood up for Jenner.

“I don’t support @Caitlyn_Jenner BECAUSE she is trans. I agree with most of her policy ideas & know she will fight for CA. She’s also a kind human & more conservative than half the people with ‘Rs’ in Congress. I don’t care how she identifies. She is more than that. Freedom first,” she tweeted.

However, Lahren's explanation wasn’t enough to stop others from slamming her over the hypocritical comment.

“Tomi complaining about seeing transphobes at a CPAC conference is like complaining about seeing Deadheads at a Dead & Company show,” one post read.

Another social media user acknowledged that Lahren was right to defend Jenner but believed her past comments about the transgender community made it difficult to take her latest tweet seriously.

“A broken clock is right twice a day. There are ways to critique people you disagree with without attacking them. While you, Tomi, are correct in your response, many of the other things you’ve said have been hypocritical soooooo spare me the fake outrage,” the post read.

Lahren continued to defend her stance throughout the afternoon and even responded to a tweet that called her out for being inconsistent about her beliefs. Meanwhile, Jenner thanked Lahren for standing up for her and declared that they had to continue to fight for others.
