Top 5 EVs And Hybrids To Watch In 2023
The electric vehicle revolution is in full swing as automakers worldwide are phasing out internal combustion engines.
The advent of EVs saw them first as luxury vehicles and statement pieces for the wealthy. Countries have turned to EVs to help slow down the growing climate crisis by offering tax incentives for drivers to switch to EVs and investing in hybrid and electric technologies. EVs are becoming commonplace as both established carmakers with long histories and new startups are changing the market and making EVs accessible to the average consumer.
These are some of the top EVs to watch in 2023.

While there's no wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the IONIQ is a fast-charging SUV with over 200 miles of driving range. The single-motor model has 303 miles of range, making the IONIQ one of the EVs with the furthest range under a $60,000 price tag, according to Car and Driver.
Starting price for this electric SUV is $47,450.
2023 Ford F-150 Lightning
MotorTrend's Truck of the Year, the electric version of the classic F-150 is the first of its kind to be mass-marketed to mainstream consumers. "While some vehicles change the world by being radically different, others, like the Ford F-150 Lightning, change it by being different where it counts and familiar where it helps," wrote MotorTrend.
This electric truck retails between $52,000 and $97,000.
2023 BMW iX
A combination of technology and luxury packaged with "the comfort of a midsized SUV," the 2023 BMW iX scored 9/10 from Car and Driver. The iX is considered the future of BMW's electric fleet and delivers just over 300 miles of range per charge thanks to its large battery pack. There's also a comfortable interior featuring a "fancy, futuristic design" with a digital dashboard that's part of BMW's iDrive infotainment system.
Prices start at $84,100 for the iX.
2023 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
With a 9.5/10 rating from Car and Driver, the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica is a versatile electric minivan and one of the few on the market that is both functional and efficient. While the hybrid version of the Pacific packs less horsepower than gas-only version and more powerful EVs, it manages 33 miles around town on electric power before the gas engine turns on.
The starting price is $38,615 for the Pacifica.
2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid
With an 8.5/10 from Car and Driver, this hybrid SUV emphasizes value. It offers 31 miles of electric power driving before the gas engine kicks on and can travel over 500 miles on a full tank. Car and Driver noted that Hyundai is known for "solid build quality and worthwhile features rather than edgy designs and upscale materials" when it comes to vehicle interiors. With that in mind, the Santa Fe offers luxurious design and ample interior space.
Prices start at $29,495 for the Santa Fe.
