Top 5 Highlights Of Tony Awards 2021 [Videos]
The 74th Tony Awards was held on Sunday at Winter Garden Theatre in New York and here are some of the best highlights of the event.
Danny Burstein’s First Tony Award
Actor Danny Burstein won his first Tony Award after being nominated seven times. The 57-year-old actor won Best Featured Actor in a Musical award for playing Harold Zidler in "Moulin Rouge! The Musical." Paramount+ streamed the event and shared the actor's acceptance speech with the caption, "We've got nothing but love for Danny Burstein and his #TonyAwards win for Best Featured Actor in a Musical!"

Lois Smith - Oldest Acting Winner
Another highlight of the event was Lois Smith winning the award. Smith, who worked in the play titled "The Inheritance," became the oldest person to win the trophy at the age of 90.
"I love the processes of the live theater," Smith said as she accepted the award. "There's a famous two-word message from Howards End which is so apt, I think, tonight for all of us who are here celebrating the importance, the functions, of live theater: 'Only connect.'"
Congrats again to Lois Smith for her #TonyAwards win, for Best Featured Actress in a Play! 🎭❤️ pic.twitter.com/2700GdRscN

Aaron Tveit - The Only Nominee
Aaron Tveit's win was interesting as he was the only actor nominated in the Best Leading Actor in a Musical category. However, it wasn't confirmed if the actor will take the award home. As per an arcane rule, if the actor receives less than 60% votes, he would lose the trophy.
Honestly, we're SO obsessed with @AaronTveit and everything about his #TonyAwards win for Best Leading Actor in a Musical! 😍😍😍 pic.twitter.com/40HNOYTVGj

Kenny Leon Remembered George Floyd and Breonna Taylor
Kenny Leon won the award for Best Revival of a Play and honored victims of police brutality during his acceptance speech. "Breonna Taylor, Breonna Taylor, Breonna Taylor; George Floyd, George Floyd. We will never, ever forget you," Leon said. "All lives are precious."
Memoriam Segment
Besides the moments where the artists received the awards, one of the highlights of the event was the Memoriam segment that honored those who lost their lives to the coronavirus. Performers Bernadette Peters, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Robbie Fairchild, etc. paid a tribute to the lost talents including Ann Reinking, Tony Tanner, Terry Hands, among others.
