Top 8 iPhone 4S Apps
Though the iPhone 4S looks like an older sibling of the iPhone 4, it has a stronger processor and better camera than the iPhone 4, as well as Siri voice control and a bunch of apps that make a big difference between the two versions of the same phone.
Apple has an App Store with 500,000 apps, but here is a list of the eight best apps that come pre-installed in the iPhone 4S:
Siri:
This app acts very similar to a GPS in some cases, but it’s more of a personal assistant that lets you control the iPhone 4S with your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls and plan dates. When you ask a question, Siri will respond right away with an answer.
Talk to Siri as you would to a person. Say something like, “Tell my wife I’m running late,” “Remind me to call the vet,” or “Any good burger joints around here?” Siri does what you say, finds the information you need, then answers you. It’s like you’re having a conversation with your iPhone.
Dropbox:
Dropbox will store all of your new documents by syncing them among the Web, your desktop and your iPhone 4S. It acts like iCloud, where your documents can be uploaded and streamed to several people, who must be connected to your Dropbox account in order to benefit from the service.
iCloud:
iCloud is an Apple app -- it's a cloud-based system that streams content from several iOS devices, and it lets you upload videos, e-mails, documents, pictures and more, so you don't have to store them on your iPhone or mobile device. To have full access to the app, you need to pay a fee of $25 a year or more, depending on which storage option you choose.
Twitter:
Twitter is now thoroughly integrated with iOS 5, and Apple lets you tweet links and photos without opening a separate app. This will also allow you to set Twitter to send notifications to your Notification Center.
Spotify, MOG, Rdio:
These music subscription services give you access to millions of songs for a flat monthly fee.
iMovie:
The great filming capability of 1080p in the iPhone 4S comes with an app just for editing your films right on the phone. iMovie can do great work in minutes, including adding pictures, sounds and clips. It allows more customization than any of the other included apps.
Facebook:
The Facebook feature in iOS 5 allows you to use the same features as Facebook.com, but it also gives you the option to have Push Notifications.
iTunes Movie Trailers:
This app, also known as Trailers, is an Apple-made application for watching movie previews in HD. It has a slick interface for watching popular trailers of movies from various categories and genres.
