‘Top Chef’ 2020: Meet The Season 17 ‘All-Stars: LA’ Contestants [PHOTOS]
The chefs are back and they are ready to be crowned as All-Stars.
Bravo’s hit reality-tv competition “Top Chef” returns tonight for Season 17, which is being tagged as “All-Stars: LA.” The 15 chefs competing have all made their mark on the competition in seasons past, and are now returning for a chance to finally take home the title. In addition to impressing judges Padma Lakshmi, Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons, they will also need to impress a host of major culinary names, including Marcus Samuelsson, Hunter Lewis and Dario Cecchini.
Get to know the 15 competitors below:
Eric Adjepong, Washington D.C.
Adjepong, the co-founder of Pinch & Plate, competed on Season 16, “Top Chef: Kentucky,” where he came in third.
Karen Akunowicz, Boston MA
Akunowicz, a James Beard Award winner, placed seventh on Season 13, “Top Chef: California.”
Jennifer Carroll, Philadelphia PA
Carroll is making her fourth attempt at winning the title after previously placing fourth on Season 6, “Top Chef: Las Vegas,” 17th in Season 8, “Top Chef: All-Stars New York,” and competing in “Last Chance Kitchen” Season 7
Stephanie Cmar, Boston MA
Cmar placed seventh on Season 11, “Top Chef: New Orleans.”
Lisa Fernandes, Brooklyn NY
Fernandes, the founder of Sweet Chilli, competed on Season 4, “Top Chef: Chicago,” where she placed second.
Kevin Gillespie, Atlanta GA
Gillespie, who owns restaurants Gunshow and Revival, placed second on Season 6, “Top Chef: Las Vegas.”
Gregory Gourdet, Portland OR
Gourdet placed second on Season 12, “Top Chef: Boston.”
Melissa King, San Francisco CA
King placed fourth on Season 12, “Top Chef: Boston.”
Jamie Lynch, Charlotte NC
Lynch placed ninth on Season 14, “Top Chef: Charleston.”
Brian Malarkey, San Diego CA
Malarkey, who placed fourth on Season 3, “Top Chef: Miami,” owns several restaurants and has appeared on several TV shows, including “The Taste,” and serving as a judge on Food Network’s “Guys Grocery Games.”
Nini Nguyen, New York NY
Nguyen was eliminated during Restaurant Wars week of Season 16, “Top Chef: Kentucky.”
Joe Sasto, Los Angeles CA
Sasto placed third on Season 15, “Top Chef: Colorado.”
Angelo Sosa, San Diego CA
Sosa is making his third appearance on the show after previously placing second in Season 7, “Top Chef: Washington D.C.” and seventh during Season 8, “Top Chef: All-Stars New York.”
Bryan Voltaggio, Frederick MD
Voltaggio, who owns five restaurants, placed second during Season 6, “Top Chef: Las Vegas.”
Lee Anne Wong, Maui Hawaii
Wong is making her third appearance on the show after previously placing fourth on Season 1, “Top Chef: San Francisco and winning “Last Chance Kitchen,” but ultimately coming in 11th place in the regular season after withdrawing.
“Top Chef” Season 17 premieres Thursday, March 19 at 10 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
