Tom Cruise dropped the new trailer of his highly anticipated movie, "Top Gun: Maverick," which treated fans to some amazing air combat scenes.

The trailer opens with a fight scene in the air where fighters pilots count to three before the attack. The next scene introduces new characters including actor Glen Powell, who portrays Bagman but his peers tease him as Hangman.

The young pilots are seen asking questions about their new mission and viewers learn how everyone in the room is exceptional at what they do. They wonder who is going to teach them further, considering they are the "best."

The next scene introduces Captain Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell played by Cruise. Maverick reminds his superiors that he is not a teacher so they can "manage the expectations" they have of him.

The trailer features some mind-blowing air combat shots without revealing who they are fighting against.

Fans shared their reactions in the comments section.

"Not grabbed by the story, but I will be watching for @tomcruise doing his own stunt flying," one of the fans wrote.

A user questioned if Cruise was even qualified to fly these fighter planes and a fan replied, "Nope he is qualified… it was a demand during the first top gun. He is also on attack helicopters as well… guy is crazy."

The 59-year-old star is a trained pilot who created a stunt training program for his co-stars on the sequel. "We spent a year working with the Navy to get approvals to put six of these IMAX-quality cameras inside the cockpit," director Joseph Kosinski revealed in a September 2021 interview.

Actor Miles Teller opened up about the training the cast members received before the filming of the movie.

"We were all mini Toms making this movie," Teller told Total Film magazine earlier this week. "[Tom Cruise] He put us through... I’ll just call it a 'Tom Cruise boot camp'. We were getting in killer shape. And also for the stunts and stuff that Tom does in movies, it’s usually a very specific type of training."

"You’re not just going into the gym and lifting some weights," the 35-year-old actor added. "We did flight training for three months before we started filming... We got put through the wringer."

"Top Gun: Maverick" revolves around Maverick's character who teaches a batch of new pilots to go on a deadly mission that needs an ultimate sacrifice. Apart from Cruise and Teller, the movie also features Val Kilmer, Jennifer Connelly and Ed Harris, and is slated to release on May 27.
