The 15-year-old girl, Ruta Meilutyte, who trains and goes to school in Plymouth, according to the BBC, started off strong in the 100-meter women's breaststroke and beat the U.S.'s Rachael Soni by 0.08 seconds. Japanese swimmer, Satomi Suzuki came in third place, earning her a bronze medal, while Australia's defending champion, Leisel Jones, finished in fifth place.
