June Through August, U.S.' Second Warmest Summer on Record [MAPS]

Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Louisiana made major contributions toward increasing the national average. Each of these states recorded their hottest summers ever, with the average summer temperature in Texas being 86.8 degrees. In Oklahoma, the average was 86.5 degrees.

Flash Flooding: Maryland Getting Additional 2 Inches of Rain Fall Per Hour

More heavy rainfall of up to two inches per hour is falling on parts of Maryland as the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee continue across the northeast of the United States. The National Weather Service on Thursday said a flash flood warning still remains in effect until 4 p.m. for Montgomery County, Md., as the heavy rainfall is being felt from Gaithersburg to the American Legion Bridge, which will cause even more flooding.

Flash Flooding: Cuomo Orders Full Response for New York

The National Weather Service has issued flash-flood warnings in and around several large cities, including Albany, Binghamton, N.Y., and Philadelphia. New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Wednesday said the state's full response capacity have been deployed to Broome County where heavy rains from Tropical Storm Lee have caused increased flood levels.
