Toshiba smartphones TG01 profiles unveiled
Toshiba on Tuesday announced its first model of touchscreen smartphones running on Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipset. The TG01 is unveiled at a London event ahead of Mobile World Congress.
The company launched the phone with a 4.1-inch touchscreen display and that it will also be thinner than the iPhone at just 9.9mm (0.39in) deep. The TG01's touchscreen has a resolution of 800x480 pixels, the same as the first Asus EEE PC Netbooks launched in 2007 in which Toshiba promises that this will revolutionize the mobile entertainment world.
The handset is based on Windows Mobile 6.1 but will have a customized front-end and full support for Flash-based video as well as DivX.
The smartphone is also the first to come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon architecture with a CPU - the QSD2850 - clocked at 1GHz, Toshiba claims the TG01 will be the fastest phone available on the market.
You wil also get HSDPA, GPS and WiFi compatibility, that covers all the bases when it comes to connectivity. It will also include a G-sensor to recognize motion that is reportedly more advanced than an accelerometer.
