  • Premier League legend Louis Saha weighed in on Tottenham's season
  • Saha thinks the Spurs wouldn't win without Harry Kane and Heung-min Son
  • The former France striker wants Tottenham to work on its consistency

Spurs legend Louis Saha isn’t too confident about Tottenham’s line-up despite the club’s impressive run this season.

After missing out on the UEFA Champions League last season, Tottenham catapulted back to its winning ways and is now the no. 1 team in the Premier League. Many are convinced that Jose Mourinho’s side presents a strong case for claiming the silverware this season, but according to former Tottenham striker Saha, his old club isn’t really a competitive team without Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

“Tottenham don’t have the strongest squad in the Premier League,” Saha recently told Genting Bet.

“I think that if Harry Kane or [Heung-Min] Son is injured, they can’t play in the same form. Those two players are too important and there is no replacement behind. There are good players behind them but I don't think there is that combination and complementary partnership that it's crucial for their attacking options,” he continued.

As for how Tottenham plays, Saha credited Mourinho for implementing “balance” in the team. However, the Frenchman also pointed out that while Mourinho does a great job managing his talented players, the biggest hurdle would still be the ability to consistently win games.

“With the style, it's just about finding a good balance between being very difficult to beat and this is what [Jose] Mourinho will bring into the club,” the France legend explained.

“The choice of Mourinho makes sense because they are so hard to beat and that was always the problem of Tottenham – they definitely always had the quality to beat anyone, but the consistency was difficult,” he added.

Similar to what other Premier League legends have predicted, Saha also thinks the Spurs can finally win the title this year. But once again, he insisted that Tottenham should work on its consistency.

“Tottenham could win the Premier League this year – they’ve shown before that they have the quality, but in terms of consistency, I’m not sure,” the 42-year-old concluded. “The potential is there and now they have the manager. So, they have definitely got a better chance to do that but only time will tell.”

Mourinho and the Spurs are still far away from winning the Premier League title. For now, Mourinho is pleased to have endured a series of challenges this season.

“It is not about me it is about the team and if it was about me it would have to be the coaching staff of the month because without the other guys it would not be possible,” Mourinho, who was named Premier League manager of the month for November, told reporters in a recent press conference.

“This kind of thing I never feel it as an individual award, I always feel that it belongs to the team and the results we did,” he added.
