A Washington man, who jumped from an eleventh-floor balcony of a Royal Caribbean cruise liner docked in the Bahamas last week for a prank video, has earned himself a lifetime ban from the cruise line.

In order to get some internet fame, 27-year-old Nick Naydev decided to jump off the ship’s deck while his friends recorded the leap. The video, shared on Instagram last week, shows Naydev standing on a balcony railing while three of his friends recorded his antics. Seconds later, he pinwheels his arms and plummets into the sea. He is then seen swimming in water.

The video went viral with over 140,000 views in one week. Naydev commented on the video saying he was drunk and suffered minor injuries.

"I was still drunk from the previous night. When I woke up I just decided to jump,” he wrote, adding "My feet were actually fine. It was my neck and tailbone that hurt."

He also offered a statement saying, “I am truly astonished at how this video has spread throughout the internet. I did not think this through, before I jumped. My idea was this would be a good laugh for my friends and I would just swim back to shore and continue my vacation and never thought this would be so serious.”

Though it is not clear what exactly happened after Naydev jumped into the water, he said “my whole group got kicked off and I got banned for life from any cruise” and that he had to catch a flight back.

“When security caught up with me they told me and my friends that we needed to pack our bags and leave the ship immediately and were not welcome on any of their cruise ships again. Local police in Nassau, Bahamas were called in to pick us up from the ship, but fortunately the police thought the whole situation was amusing and did not proceed to file any legal action,” he said, Global News reported.

“I could barely walk for 3 days because my ass hurt so bad. The flight home was a nightmare but I’m fine now,” he added, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

Konstantin Kryachun, who recorded the video told Yahoo, “He’s jumped from those kind of heights before, and we didn’t really care about the consequences with the cruise company. We just wanted to get a video of it and make it go viral.”

The Royal Caribbean issued a statement saying, “This was stupid and reckless behavior, and he and his companions have been banned from ever sailing with us again. We are also exploring legal action.”
