'Toy Story 4': Keanu Reeves Reveals He's Done 4 Recording Sessions
The biggest casting announcement for “Toy Story 4” so far is arguably that of “John Wick” star Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview, the actor talked about how he managed to land this role, and he also confirmed that he has already done four recordings for the film.
In an interview with Collider, Reeves seemed excited about this new project. The character details are currently being kept under wraps, and Reeves isn’t allowed to speak on it, but he did comment about the casting.
When asked about how he managed to get the role, a visibly excited Reeves said that he had no idea how he got it, but added that it was “really cool” that he did. One day, he apparently got the call from the “lovely people” at Pixar, and they pitched the character idea to Reeves. The actor was then allowed to “riff on it.” Reeves said yes, and as of this writing, he has already done at least four recordings for “Toy Story 4.”
The plot of the upcoming film is set to expand the world for the toys. The popular duo Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Tim Allen) are back, and they will meet some exciting new toys as well.
According to Screen Rant, the plot will revolve around a carnival. The official poster of the film has already teased the presence of a carnival in the background, and one of the teasers of the film introduced two new carnival toys, Ducky (voiced by Keegan Michael-Key) and Bunny (voiced by Jordan Peele).
What starts this new adventure is the creation of a new toy. The new owner of the toys reportedly makes a toy out of a spork and calls him “Forky.” The problem is that Forky doesn’t think he is a toy. At some point in the film, the toys are forced to go on a journey, presumably to help or save Forky.
In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Allen teased that “Toy Story 4” is “emotional,” as well as “funny.” The film apparently takes the story to a “whole new level.”
“It walks the line between comfort — you know what’s going on — and discomfort — wondering what’s gonna happen. It’s terrifically emotional,” Allen said.
“Toy Story 4” will be released on June 21, 2019 in the U.S. The film is directed by Josh Cooley.
