Following the recall for its Prius vehicles for an inverter issue, Toyota (TM) has recalled its 2019 RAV 4 and RAV 4 Hybrid SUVs due to the rearview camera not activating when the vehicle is in reverse.

The recall affects 18,000 vehicles, which were reportedly built from May 27, 2019, to July 11, 2019.

The issue with the rearview camera is the result of an electrical connection that prevents video from displaying when the vehicle is in reverse, which could increase the risk of a crash, Toyota said.

According to Toyota, its dealers will inspect the camera’s functionality and if required, will replace the entire system. This would include the video screen and electrical connections. There would be no charge to RAV 4 vehicle owners, the company said.

Questions about the recall can be direct to Toyota at 1-888-270-9371.

Toyota said it will begin contacting affected RAV 4 vehicle owners by early October 2019.

The recall number is K0N.

Shares of Toyota stock were up 0.74 percent as of 12:32 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
