Toys "R" Us officially reopened Saturday inside some Macy's department stores. Some locations are celebrating through a weeklong event.

Toys "R" filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2017 and closed 735 stores. In August 2021, brand acquisition and management firm WHP Global announced that the toy retailer would open over 400 stores within Macy's in 2022.

The move comes as the holiday shopping season approaches.

Toys "R" Us opened a two-story flagship store in the American Dream mall in New Jersey in December 2021 and in August opened locations inside Macy's stores in California, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, and New York.

Toys "R" Us will be offering activities and giveaways at each of its locations.

-Monday, Oct. 17: Geoffrey's Birthday. Visitors can create their own Geoffrey the giraffe picture frame for his birthday. LEGO goody bags and Disney Plush items will also be given out for free.

-Tuesday, Oct. 18: National Geographic STEM Day. Free mini Fools Gold kits to dig out a gem will be given out along with lessons on Fools Gold.

-Wednesday, Oct. 19: Rainbow Loom Day. This day will offer free bracelet weaving to make rainbow loom bracelets.

-Thursday, Oct. 20: Play-Doh Day. Play with pizza or coffee-shop Play-Doh sets along with Play-Doh giveaways.

-Friday, Oct. 21: Pokemon Day. Pokemon activity packs to play, trade and collect will be given out to use in-store.

-Saturday, Oct. 22: LEGO Day. LEGO sets will be available to play and create in-store, along with more LEGO-themed giveaways.

-Sunday, Oct. 23: L.O.L. Surprise! Day. This day will include different activities and will offer coloring pages and trading card giveaways.

"Macy's cannot wait to bring the Toys"R" Us experience to life in our stores," Nata Dvir, Macy's chief merchandising officer, said in a press release in July.
