Tracee Ellis Ross Says She Was In 'Tears' During 'Black-ish' Farewell [Watch]
Tracee Ellis Ross shared how she was in tears while filming the finale of the popular series, "Black-ish."
Ross appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" ahead of the series finale dropping on April 19 and noted that ending a TV show is not easy.
"I had a lot of tears," she said. "There’s no ritual around ending a TV show. It’s a hard thing to end when it becomes your world and your family and your life."
"The whole season, I knew was the end, so I was very present and sort of aware of endings, even the things that bothered me," the 49-year-old actress shared.
"But the last week I really said to myself, ‘Just let yourself feel whatever comes up,’ and I had a lot of tears," Ellis said, adding that being able to "take a moment" was wonderful.
"I was just talking to everybody and hearing their experience in the eight years and what about it was so special for them because we’ve been the same family for eight years, most of our crew is the same, and everything so very emotional," Ross said.
When DeGeneres spoke about how much of an "important show it is, was and always will be," the actress responded, "I leave with a lot of joy and pride."
"Black-ish" is a TV series that revolves around a Black family with a husband, played by Anthony Anderson, and a wife, played by Ross, and their four kids. Although the husband is very successful in his career, he questions the norms of society.
The series was first dropped in 2014 and Ross has been a regular part of the sitcom since the beginning.
The success of the show resulted in two new spinoffs, "Grown-ish" and "Mixed-ish" dropped in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Ross has been a regular on these two spin-offs too.
The finale of "Black-ish" is slated to release on April 19.
Apart from these shows, Ross will lend her voice to Jodie's character in the upcoming animated comedy movie, "Jodie," which is currently under pre-production. On the personal front, Ross is single and has no kids.
