  • Former Blues Youth player is looking to strike at League One
  • Charlie Brown holds better chances of being a mainstay with MK Dons
  • MK Dons sees promising future for Brown

Chelsea is oozing with young talent and Frank Lampard has yet to find a way to give everyone a chance.

One player that will no longer be part of that mix is Charlie Brown, a young striker who never got the opportunity to play as part of the first team.

Considering the Blues took in some big names such as Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech, the 21-year-old may have done the sensible thing by moving to MK Dons.

The English football player has been sent to the League One club, where he could get better chances of playing. To do that, Brown needs to prove himself worthy. He will compete with Cameron Jerome and Joe Mason following the permanent deal.

The deal ends his four-year stay with the Blues. He arrived in 2016 and starred for Chelsea’s youth squads. In 108 appearances for their Under-23s, Under-19s and Under-18s, Brown scored 53 goals and provided 12 assists.

That run was pretty rewarding for Brown. He was crowned the UEFA Youth League top goalscorer during the 2018-19 season, but all this was not enough to get a regular team callup.

Regardless, Brown gets a new lease on life with MK Dons. He is looking forward to the opportunity, revealing that he cannot wait to show fans what he can do on the pitch.

“I’ve seen the way the team plays, with a lot of possession and creating a lot of chances for the strikers. It’s going to be up to me to finish those chances off and I’ll be looking to do that as often as I can” Brown stated.

It appears the feeling is mutual. MK Dons boss Russell Martin admits that Brown is someone they have been monitoring and did not let the chance to get him to slip away.

“In the long term, he’s going to be a very, very good signing for the football club and I’m confident, once we get him up to speed, he will help us in the short-term as well,” Martin stated.

Chelsea issued a statement following the deal, thanking him for his services and wishing him luck in his future career.
