KEY POINTS

  • Lucas Digne is aware of the growing interest as his exit from Everton looms
  • Newcastle, Inter Milan and PSG are unlikely to be the landing spots for Digne
  • West Ham needs to spend $41 million to seal the deal for Digne

West Ham United is on the move, and one player that they are reportedly aggressively pursuing is Lucas Digne of Everton.

Digne is a name most speculate to be leaving Goodison Park soon, and there are multiple teams keeping tabs.

The French left-back has not been featured on Rafa Benitez’s side for weeks now, further ramping speculation that the 28-year-old is moving soon.

West Ham has already engaged in talks with Everton about Digna, the Daily Mail reported. This may have placed them in front of the race for the French national although nothing is final.

For the Hammers to seal a potential transfer, they would need to be ready to spend huge.

They need to meet the £30 million ($41 million) valuation of Digne, a fee that may be tough to justify on the part of Davie Moyes.

Digne has been churning out good performances since moving to the English Premier League, averaging almost an assist in the games where he has played.

Last season, the French footballer was considered as one of the best left-backs in Europe by Carlo Ancelotti, Sky Sports reported.

But on whether this would justify seeing West Ham spending heftily on him remains to be seen.

Regardless, Digne knows that he has options for this January transfer window. Other teams waiting in the wings include Chelsea and Newcastle.

If money is the issue, the Magpies should have no problem meeting the demands of the Toffees.

Unfortunately, a move to St. James Park is something that is of no interest to Digne, The Mirror reported.

As for the Blues, the interest in Digne cropped up after losing Ben Chilwell for the remainder of the season.

The 25-year-old left-back will undergo surgery on his knee ligaments after getting injured in their 4-0 UEFA Champions League win over Juventus this past November, Sky Sports reported.

Aside from the Hammers, Blues and Magpies, other teams linked to Digne include Inter Milan, Leicester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa.

Inter Milan and PSG are reportedly open to only loan deals, something that is not an option for Everton.
