Transfer Rumors: Arsenal Defender Future Clearer In Next 10 Days, Agent Says

Mesut Ozil is holding talks with several teams, and a better picture of what the future holds could be known in the coming days. To be more accurate, the next 10 days.

The German defender could finally see football action by then if his camp can come to terms with a couple of clubs. Arsenal is keeping an open mind on what may occur although it could be a big sigh of relief from its end.

It is no secret that things are not well between Ozil and the Gunners side with the 32-year-old not seeing action since March of last year.

A move out of the Emirates Stadium was seen as the logical route, but the German opted to stay on and finish his current pact.

But this was before teams like DC United and Fenerbahce entered the picture. There is no clarity yet on the status of the talks.

Regardless, Arsenal is open to any deal for Ozil for as long as the deal is fair to both sides.

"If something is sorted this month [in the January transfer window], it's because it's good for both parties,” Arteta said in a report from Sky Sports. "Good for Mesut and his future, and good for the club. If that's the case, we will move forward. If that's not the case, the player will continue here."

According to Ozil’s agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut, a better picture of what awaits the 32-year-old defender will be known in the next 10 days.

He is aware that the German has six months left in his current deal with the Gunners, adding they are weighing options and looking for the best scenario, ESPN reported.

"He might stay at Arsenal until the summer but he might go. Mesut's priority is to stay, but you never know in football. Things can change very fast. For the moment, we are just checking all the options for January and the summer,” Sogut stated.

Until something gets ironed out, Ozil remains a Gunner. Arteta is also cautious about handing the German’s status, especially since Arsenal needs midfielder help. Much of this was discussed in a previous post.
