Transfer Rumors: Arsenal May Encounter Big Loss If They Lose Spanish Defender
KEY POINTS
- Arsenal may need to look for another defender if Hector Bellerin departs
- Callum Chambers fails to impress football personalities
- Bayern Munich is ramping up ab offer by adding Corentin Tolisso for Bellerin
Arsenal knows that they need to keep their defense up, and it all starts by making sure that they have the right players in tow.
By the look of it, head coach Mikel Arteta appears to be leaning on a change. Hector Bellerin was relegated to a substitute, with Arsenal relying on Callum Chambers.
It could be tactical for Arteta, but pundits are aware that there are several teams linked to the 26-year-old right-back. They are Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
Nothing is official, but personalities--who saw the Gunners fall to Brentford in the English Premier League--were far from impressed with the performance of Chambers.
That includes ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, who suggests that Arteta could be in trouble if the English defender is the one he is grooming if Bellerin leaves.
“I know Bellerin was on the bench, if Bellerin is moving on it really does look like a problem area,” Carragher stated.
Aside from Carragher, another person who was far from impressed with the English footballer’s performance is Gary Neville.
“He needs to play in a back three. He’s not a right-back in a back four and not a center-back in a back two,” Neville said.
Considering Carragher and Neville were two of the best defenders in their prime, their opinions may matter. It remains to be seen if their speculations on the fate of Bellerin turn out to be correct.
With Chambers failing to impress most, a potential recourse in the event of a Bellerin exit is to look for a new right-back to bring into the fold.
Bayern Munich is the latest club to make a push for Bellerin and is ready to add Corentin Tolisso to get the deal done, Calciomercatoweb reported.
Aside from Der FCB and I Nerazzurri, other clubs reportedly interested in Bellerin include Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and PSG.
