Arsenal seems to have a good mix of goalkeepers to make sure to fend off attempts from opposing teams.

Aaron Ramsdale has been performing well, but the Gunners know they need to have a backup shot-stopper just in case.

Bernd Leno holds that right although there is a chance he may leave the Emirates Stadium by next summer.

He is set to become a free agent, and there are several clubs interested in the 29-year-old goalkeeper. Inter Milan and Juventus lead the pack of clubs that could sign Leno next summer.

Seeing how Mikel Arteta has turned to Ramsdale as his No. 1, Leno could very well opt to move to another team.

One player that Arsenal could check out is Andre Onana of AFC Ajax. It appears that the 25-year-old has no plans of signing a new deal with his current club, according to director Marc Overmars.

He could be a sensible target to make sure that Arteta does not fall short of reliable shot-stoppers.

The best part of the possible Onana chase is that the Gunners can get him for practically nothing in nine months.

“We aren’t working with (Onana) at the moment and aren’t having any conversations,” ex-Arsenal winger Overmars said. “We tried (to extend his contract) but it didn’t work. Then you move on. It wasn’t up to us.”

If things fall into place, a potential deal could be gratifying for the Gunners.

Arsenal has long-admired the former Barcelona youngster, and it came close to sealing a deal last summer.

While that would be good news for Arsenal fans, there is also the question of whether Onana is interested to join the Gunners as their secondary goalie.

It is a scenario that the Cameroon footballer is likely to put into consideration.
