KEY POINTS

  • Coutinho's move to the Emirates Stadium may disrupt the success of Arsenal this season
  • Everton is unlikely to make a big splurge on Coutinho given their history of signings
  • Coutinho could be loaned out anew unless Barca gets a lucrative offer

An English Premier League return is highly possible for Philippe Coutinho, someone that Barcelona is reportedly ready to sell.

The Brazilian winger has not seen action in Blaugrana’s last two La Liga matches. Moreover, he has not gotten ample playing time so far this season.

With his sagging fortunes, a move out of Camp Nou could be in the books.

According to Sport.Es, a potential move to Arsenal or Everton may be better for the struggling midfielder.

However, that would depend on how much the Gunners and Toffees would be willing to pay for the 29-year-old footballer.

Coutinho is currently earning £163,000 ($219,000) a week in Catalonia, and there is no telling if his wage requirement would be something the Gunners and Toffees would be willing to meet, the Sunday Mirror previously reported.

The answer to that may depend on how Coutinho would part ways with Barca. He could leave permanently or be loaned out.

Although Coutinho could get a new lease on life with a move to either Arsenal or Everton, pundits feel that the Brazilian may be utilized better by the Gunners.

Under the mentioned weekly wages he is getting, such would eat into the budget of Arsenal.

Regardless, the Gunners have been known to spend more compared to the Toffees.

But even if that made sense, his fit may be questioned. The fact remains that Arsenal is doing well with a bunch of young players hungry for success.

Coutinho would be a credible addition on paper, but his infusing may create problems in terms of rotation and drive.

With the January transfer window coming up, Arsenal and Everton may be joined by other teams open to absorbing the Brazilian midfielder.
