Transfer Rumors: Ceballos Weighing Options, Arsenal Return Uncertain
KEY POINTS
- Dani Ceballos will sit down with Real Madrid before deciding on his future
- Ceballos not certain of returning for Arsenal F.C. next season
- Real Betis is interested in reuniting with Ceballos
Dani Ceballos was part of the FA Cup triumph of Arsenal F.C. club that defeated Chelsea F.C., 2-1. The triumph could be seen as a way to make a case that he deserves to stay at Emirates Stadium but the Spanish football player plans to weigh his options.
The first order of business for Ceballos is to sit down with Real Madrid to discuss his future. The 23-year-old is on loan to the Gunners with Los Blancos having no place for him. For now, he said to El Partidazo de COPE that he wants to clear that out before thinking of where he could play next.
"I haven't spoken to Real Madrid yet, but anyone who wears that shirt is happy," Ceballos said. "I'm not thinking about whether or not I can play for Real Madrid, Arsenal or another club," he added.
For Ceballos, it is time to think about his family and his future. There is no telling what the future holds for the Spaniard. He did tease some possibilities about his future on Instagram, something most perceived as a sign he would love to stay at Emirates Stadium. It appears things have changed.
A clearer picture should be known after Real's Champions League clash with Manchester City this Friday. The Premier League side holds a 2-1 lead from the first leg of the last-16 tie.
Ceballos had his share of struggles with Arsenal. He was on the injured list when Mikel Arteta came on board but managed to adapt to the new system. Ceballos has now become one of the main influencers for the Gunners, pairing well with another reformed player in Granit Xhaka. The effort that the Spanish player has put in has drawn praise from Arteta himself.
"The running that he’s putting in, the tackles, every time with the interceptions, his desire to win that ball back and help the team, he’s improved so much and he looks a really good player at the moment," Arteta said in a previous post.
Should he opt to play elsewhere, one team interested in taking him in is his former team, Real Betis. With his future at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium up in the air, it may all boil down to choosing between Arsenal and Real Betis.
