  • Cristiano Ronaldo's time at Juventus may have finally come to an end
  • Manchester City is more than willing to bring him back to the Premier League
  • Rumors of the move have already broken the hearts of Manchester United hopefuls

Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the English Premier League seems close at hand, but not to the team that everybody expects.

Early in the summer, Ronaldo was reportedly unhappy with how his move to Italy turned out.

Juventus has failed to make it past the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and failed to defend their Serie A title last year after having won it for nine consecutive years.

Ronaldo was noticeably left out of club manager Massimiliano Allegri’s first team as Juventus fought Udinese to a draw in their Serie A opener–supposedly a joint decision between both parties.

BBC Radio 5 Live’s team of Raphael Honigstein, Julien Laurens and Kristof Terreur discussed what could be the reason behind Ronaldo’s potential departure.

“Juventus is really trying to offload Ronaldo and there is even talk of him maybe going for free because they are so desperate to get him off the wage bill and because of how little in their mind he is contributing - not enough,” said Honigstein.

He then asked Italian journalist James Horncastle if Juventus was stronger with or without Ronaldo, and the respected journalist replied “without Ronaldo” in a heartbeat.

Now, there are reports that Manchester City is in the running to pluck Ronaldo out of Italy and back into the Premier League.

Outlets report that the club is more than open to take Ronaldo on two conditions: Juventus drops their £25 million ($34.3 million) transfer demands and that Ronaldo takes a wage cut from his current weekly wage of £500,000 ($686,205).

With Harry Kane’s recommitment to stay at Tottenham, Manchester City has turned their sights towards signing Ronaldo.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also reported that Ronaldo’s agent is working to complete the details of the move from Juventus to Manchester City.

A storybook ending of a return to Old Trafford with Manchester United was teased early into the transfer window.

With the rumors of the move already breaking the hearts of the Manchester United fans, what more when the move becomes official.
