Transfer Rumors: Lazio, Napoli Among Teams Bidding For Displaced Arsenal Left-Back
KEY POINTS
- Sead Kolasinac could be staying at Serie A, with Lazio and Napoli exploring possibilities
- Kolasinac is believed to be not part of Arsenal's future plans
- Multiple teams eye Kolasinac, but they prefer to wait for a free transfer
Sead Kolasinac is set to return to Arsenal with his loan spell at Schalke 04 coming to an end.
This developed after the Bundesliga club suffered relegation and was unable to pull something off for the Bosnian.
However, there may be some light at the tunnel for the Gunners.
Arsenal was hoping to see Kolasinac join Shalke permanently before the relegation. The 27-year-old left-back is not included in the plans of head coach Mikel Arteta this summer.
However, it appears that Lazio and Napoli are interested in a deal for the Bosnian player.
If they can get something done this summer transfer window, this would keep Kolasinac in Serie A per Calciomercato.
Better yet, it seems Kolasinac wants to move to Italy to continue his football journey.
The case of Kolasinac will be interesting as Arsenal continues its overhaul this summer.
Should a deal involving the Bosnian go down, the Gunners could save roughly £100,000 (over $138,000) a week.
It is also worth noting that the contract of Kolasinac expires next summer, yet more reason for the team to consider moving him to a new team.
The offers made by Lazio and Napoli were never mentioned. But given that Kolasinac is not in Arsenal’s plans and that they need added funds to pursue their targets, a deal involving the left-back is bound to happen soon.
Lazio had expressed interest last month on the Bosnian, while Napoli has had its eye on Kolasinac for a long time.
If a deal cannot be struck with Lazio or Napoli, Kolasinac is not expected to remain idle.
There are teams interested in bringing him in from Turkey and Italy. But most would prefer to wait for a free transfer for obvious financial reasons. Hence, it all boils down to a waiting game.
