KEY POINTS

  • Leicester City is monitoring the progress of Adam Buksa in Poland
  • Buksa draws attention with his sterling performance at the World Cup qualifiers
  • Nampalys Mendy's move away from Leicester City falls apart due to medical requirements

Leicester City continues to skim the market for potential talent, and it appears they have their sights on Adam Buksa of Poland.

Polish football journalist Ryan Hubbard claimed that the Foxes have sent scouts over to Poland to check on the 25-year-old striker.

Buksa currently plays as a center-forward for the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer (MLS) and has so far scored four goals in two appearances. That included a score in their win over Albania. He followed that up with a hat-trick in their 7-1 drubbing of San Marino.

The Polish striker continues to make progress, hoping scouts can take note of his performance when he started at the World Cup qualifiers against England alongside fellow striker Robert Lewandowski.

But the attention on the Polish player is not limited to his stint with the Polish national squad. He has been performing well too in the MLS, scoring 10 goals along with two assists in the 23 games he has seen action.

That performance allowed Buksa to occupy the No. 6 spot in the rankings of scorers in the current MLS season.

For now, the focus for Buksa is his commitment to Poland in the World Cup qualifiers.

“This is probably my first hat-trick in my career. I was preparing very carefully for this training camp. I did not expect to have four goals after two games, but I am very happy about it. Worried about conceding a goal, but in the end to score seven goals is also quite an art, even against San Marino. Three points count and now we are focusing on the next match,” Buksa said after their match against San Marino.

This comes not long after Yacine Ayad--the agent of Leicester City midfielder Nampalys Mendy--revealed that a move to Galatasaray has failed to materialize before the Turkish transfer window deadline.

It appears that the deal was off because Mendy was unable to complete the medical on time. This was further complicated by the fact that the 29-year-old defender is in Dakar as part of Senegal.

"With Galatasaray and Leicester, we tried everything to try to get him to Istanbul on Wednesday,” Ayad said to Foot Mercato.
