  • Jesse Lingard is looking to get more playing time at West Ham
  • Red Devils boss was initially reluctant to deal away Lingard
  • Lingard is set for a reunion with his former coach at West Ham

After falling down the pecking order of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Jesse Lingard may get better chances with West Ham.

It appears the English international is set to be loaned out by Manchester United for the remainder of the season.

Before this development, it was believed the Solskjaer had wanted to keep the 28-year-old in the mix in preparation for the second half of the season.

But it seems that there has been a change of plans with West Ham willing to do the necessary to acquire the Englishman.

"For me, it's also important to take our wishes and our plans into consideration but also the players of course, because they are Man Utd people and players through and through," the Red Devils manager stated.

According to Sky Sports, The Irons are finalizing a loan deal that would reunite Lingard with former manager David Moyes.

Both worked together during the 2013-14 season when Moyes was still the head coach of Manchester United.

West Ham will have to pay Manchester United a $2.1 million loan fee aside from Lingard’s wages.

The Irons won in the race for the midfielder’s services who also drew interest from clubs like Newcastle, Sheffield United and West Brom.

Lingard has made over 200 appearances for the Red Devils, having joined when he was just seven years old.

Manchester United activated the extension on Lingard’s contract in December, meaning his current pact is good until 2022.

Though a promising player, Lingard did not get the necessary exposure with the Red Devils. He has made only two starts for Manchester United this season, believed to be the reason why he opted to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

It was a surprise development for West Ham that had already used up their domestic loans for the season. However, an extra space opened after the Hammers signed Said Benrahma from Brentford on a permanent deal, Talk Sport reported.

West Ham is a team on the rise, and the impending arrival of Lingard will only make them better and get the necessary playing time he did not get from the Red Devils.
