  • The striker has scored nine goals this season
  • Spurs reportedly have an upper hand in this case

Premier League big guns Liverpool FC, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly are chasing Lille striker Victor Osimhen, ahead of the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old Osimhen has been in a terrific form this season scoring nine goals and making three assists in 17 Ligue 1 games for the French club, while he has also scored twice in the UEFA Champions League.

However, the same news report has also suggested that unless there is a big bid made, which would tempt Lille in selling off Osimhen, the Nigerian young player is expected to stay with Ligue 1 side until the end of the season.

Even Osimhen has said he is happy at Lille and his top priority is to help the team to qualify for next year's Champions League, while continuing to develop his game. Lille currently are third in Ligue 1, four points behind second-place Marseille but 11 behind league-leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool recently made an excellent trade as they defeated top-flight clubs like Manchester United to sign Redbull Salzburg's Takumi Minamino. The Premier League leaders announced the arrival of Minamino on Thursday.

Minamino, whose personal terms were agreed and who passed the medical test on Merseyside, is set to become Liverpool's official player on Jan. 1.

Liverpool played Salzburg in the Champions League's group stage recently. In the first leg at Anfield, Salzburg netted three goals but eventually lost the match 4-3. The Japanese was one of the goal-scorers for the tourists in that match. He was once again impressive during Liverpool's 2-0 win in Austria.

While the transfer news came as a surprise for a few fans, it is believed that Klopp and co have been working over it for a while now, having tracked the young froward since 2013.

However, in the case of Osimhen, Tottenham could have an upper hand. Lille's sporting director Luis Campos, who signed Osimhen from Belgian side Charleroi in the summer, is known to be a good friend of Spurs' new manager Jose Mourinho.
