- AC Milan is determined to seal a permanent deal with Tomori after this season
Manchester United has a center-back position problem, and the Red Devils are expected to address that in the summer transfer window.
Several names have surfaced, and curious addition to the mix is AC Milan loanee is Fikayo Tomori.
The Canadian has been performing well for Rossoneri, and the word out is that AC Milan could be planning a permanent move for the 23-year-old center-back.
But until that is made official, another option could be to head to Old Trafford and aid the charges of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The suggestion was made by former footballer Ally McCoist when discussions on who could provide Harry Maguire some help at center back were discussed on talkSPORT1.
McCoist believes the Red Devils will try to get a center-back in the summer transfer window, a key priority for the team.
The thought of Manchester United considering Tomori intrigued the 58-year-old Rangers FC legend.
“An interesting one is Tomori, what about him? Would you go and get him? They definitely need someone to play alongside Harry Maguire,” McCoist stated. “In terms of to continue their improvement in their pursuit of Manchester City, a center-back is an absolute priority.”
After falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, Tomori has been doing well with AC Milan.
He has emerged as one of the top defenders in Serie A, and that has led most to believe that the Rossoneri will trigger the option to buy put in place by Chelsea, Eurosport reported.
However, Tomori carries a $35 million option-to-buy clause.
Further backing up that possibility is the fact that Tomori appears willing to make the switch permanent.
Stefano Pioli was vocal about it as well, saying that they want Tomori to stay with AC Milan past the current season.
"We want to buy [Fikayo] Tomori on a permanent deal from Chelsea, our intention is clear and also Fikayo’s decision [staying at Milan]. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season," Pioli stated.
But until that is made official, Fikori could be an option the Red Devils may add to their list.
Other players linked to Old Trafford include Pau Torres, Jules Kounde, Nikola Milenkovic and Raphael Varane among others.
