KEY POINTS

  • Newcastle may have the best chances meeting the financial demands of Boubacar Kamara
  • Kamara has made an impression with Olympique de Marseille
  • Newcastle could make a move for Kamara as early as January

A new name has been linked to Newcastle United as reports indicate that Boubacar Kamara will be on its radar.

The 21-year-old is on an expiring deal with Olympique de Marseille, and the Magpies have now joined the race to possibly get his signature after the current season, CalcioMercato reported.

Kamara has already made 136 appearances, but it is his flexibility to fill in different positions is what makes him a tempting prospect.

With his current deal about to expire, the French player is expected to be one of the most sought-after players next summer.

However, the Magpies are not the only one hot on the tail of Kamara. AC Milan and Juventus are also monitoring his situation.

Newcastle, Juventus or even AC Milan could jump the gun on as early as the January transfer window.

Previously, it was suggested by Alfredo Pedulla that Marseille would sell Kamara for £15 million ($20.24 million) last summer.

Marseille will likely want to procure whatever returns they can before Kamara’s contract officially ends.

Kamara has already informed Marseille that he plans to leave the club once his deal expires, and his bigger role could be waiting at St. James Park.

With Newcastle United expected to make a splurge as early as January, Kamara could be a fine young addition that could help prepare the Magpies for better campaigns.

Newcastle has several players past their prime with only a handful of players holding the fort. That list includes Joe Willock, Jamal Lewis, Allan Saint-Maximin, Sean Longstaff and Freddie Woodman.

If Marseille is sticking by its $20.24 million price tag, pundits feel that this would be a bargain.
